How does it work?

A short guide to a stress-free Christmas.

To get started, you need to register. Choose a name for your Christmas list, usually the name of your family or group.

  • New group? The first person creates an account and chooses a family or group name.
  • Existing group? Ask the administrator for your family's login details.
Everyone within the same family or group can see each other's lists.

Via "My gift list" you can add gift ideas.

  • Description & Price: Fill in what you want and roughly what it costs.
  • Shop and link: You can indicate in which shop or webshop you saw your gift.
  • Photos: You can search for a photo on the internet or upload your own photo (from your phone or computer).
  • Favourite: Is there something you really want? Mark it as a favourite and it gets a golden bow.
  • Draft status: Not finished typing yet? Set your idea to 'Draft'. You can see it, but the family can't yet.

Do you draw names? The group administrator can let the site do this automatically.

  • The administrator sets who takes part and who may not draw whom (e.g. partners).
  • You receive an e-mail with the name you drew.
  • Nobody (not even the administrator) can see who drew whom.
  • You can always find the name you drew on the site under your profile.

Sometimes a list isn't entirely clear or simply too short. Via the site you can anonymously send a message to the owner of the list.

List too short?

Has someone filled in almost nothing and you don't know what to buy? At the bottom of their list, click the button to ask them to add more gift ideas.

Need more info?

It says "T-shirt" but no size? Click the "Ask for info" button on the gift. You can then tick exactly what you want to know (size, colour, shop...).

100% anonymous
The recipient gets a short e-mail from Kerstlijst.be with your question. Your name is not mentioned anywhere. So you remain a true 'Secret Santa'!
Pro tip: Really don't want to be found out? Then send your question at a moment when the recipient doesn't expect it (e.g. very early in the morning or during working hours).
If you send it while sitting next to them on the sofa and their phone goes "ping", you will of course give yourself away! 😉

If you buy a gift for someone else, you can reserve it on the site. This prevents someone else from buying the same thing.

If you have drawn names, you usually don't need to reserve a gift, since you only buy for the person you drew.

Is this secret? YES!

The person the gift is for does NOT see that it has been reserved. They also don't know who reserved it. The rest of the family can see it, but they don't know by whom either. So the surprise stays complete!

What if an item disappears?
If someone deletes a gift you had reserved, you automatically get a short e-mail. So you won't end up in the shop for nothing.

Want to show your list to people outside the family (who don't have a login)?

On your dashboard you will find a special WhatsApp button. Use it to send a link to your friends. They can view your list without logging in. You can also copy the link and forward or e-mail it to whoever you like.
